Isola del Cantone (GE), Italy
The present municipal territory derives from the union of the two villages of Isola and Cantone. Insula is the ancientLatin name and it originates from the position at the confluence of two rivers:ScriviaandVobbia. In more recent times the area of Campolungo ,where the the local parish church is found just left of Scrivia, has assumed the name of Isola while the remainder has become Cantone.
