Veronica Spinolawas born in Genoa in 1625, daughter of Luca Spinola, son of Gaspare who was the son of Gioffredo, and of Pellina Spinola daughter of Giovanni Battista Spinola, 1st Duke of San Pietro.
In 1650 she married her uncle, Gio Filippo Spinola, to whom she brought the Principality of Molfetta as a dowry.
At his death, having no direct male descendant, the uncle and brother-in-law of Veronica, Gio Maria Spinola, the second Duke of San Pietro, appointed Francesco Maria (1659-1727), the son of Veronica and his brother Gio Filippo, as his universal heir.
At the death of Gio Maria, she moved with Francesco Maria to the Palazzo dell’Acquasola (Palazzo of Massimiliano Spinola or Doria Spinola), mainly occupied by the protection of her son, universal heir to the patrimony of his father Gio Filippo and his uncle Gio Maria.
In 1669, mother and son received in giuspatronate, the choir of the church of San Francesco da Paola with the faculty of burial rights (not. Oberto Castiglione, April 13, 1669; State Archives, Genoa) and in the course of the following years they devoted themselves to the restoration of the Church, such as to earn the title of “founders”. Probably after 1675, after the marriage of Francesco Maria, Veronica moved to the apartment dedicated to her (Palazzetto Spinola) at the Convent of San Francesco da Paola. She died in 1688 and was buried in the crypt of the main altar of the church; an inscription commemorating it quotes:
